SONG #2274: Come All You People
———————————
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come now and worship the Lord.
——————————
WELCOME
——————————
SONG #769GTG: For Everyone Born
——————————
For everyone born, a place at the table,
For everyone born, clean water and bread,
A shelter, a space, a safe place for growing,
For everyone born, a star overhead,
——————————
And God will delight when we are creators
Of justice and joy, compassion and peace:
Yes, God will delight when we are creators
Of justice, justice and joy!
——————————
For woman and man, a place at the table,
Revising the roles, deciding the share,
With wisdom and grace, dividing the power,
For woman and man, a system that’s fair,
——————————
And God will delight when we are creators
Of justice and joy, compassion and peace:
Yes, God will delight when we are creators
Of justice, justice and joy!
——————————
For young and for old, a place at the table,
A voice to be heard, a part in the song,
The hands of a child in hands that are wrinkled,
For young and for old, the right to belong,
——————————
And God will delight when we are creators
Of justice and joy, compassion and peace:
Yes, God will delight when we are creators
Of justice, justice and joy!
——————————
For just and unjust, a place at the table,
Abuser, abused, with need to forgive,
In anger, in hurt, a mindset of mercy,
For just and unjust, a new way to live,
——————————
And God will delight when we are creators
Of justice and joy, compassion and peace:
Yes, God will delight when we are creators
Of justice, justice and joy!
——————————
For everyone born, a place at the table,
To live without fear, and simply to be,
To work, to speak out, to witness and worship,
For everyone born, the right to be free,
——————————
And God will delight when we are creators
Of justice and joy, compassion and peace:
Yes, God will delight when we are creators
Of justice, justice and joy!
——————————
THE GATHERING
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. (Genesis 1: 1-2)
The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, upon many waters. (Psalm 29: 3)
The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit. (John 3: 8)
The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forest bare; and in God’s temple all cry, “Glory!” (Psalm 29:9)
When you send forth your Spirit all living things are created; and you renew the face of the earth. (Psalm 104:30)
The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world and those who live in it. (Psalm 24:1)
I baptize with you water; but one more powerful than I is coming who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. (Luke 3:16)
The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. (Psalm 29: 7-8)
Gathered by God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, let us worship together!
——————————
SONG #138: Holy, Holy, Holy
——————————
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
——————————
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea.
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
Who wert and art and evermore shalt be.
——————————
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
Though the eye of sinfulness Thy glory may not see,
Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.
——————————
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
——————————
THE MESSAGE
——————————
RESPONSE
For the Word of God in scripture,
For the Word of God among us,
For the Word of God within us,
Thanks be to God.
——————————
INVITATION TO ACTIVE DISCIPLESHIP
——————————
SONG #461: God is Here
——————————
God is here! As we your people
Meet to offer praise and prayer,
May we find in fuller measure
What it is in Christ we share.
Here, as in the world around us,
All our varied skills and arts
Wait the coming of the Spirit
Into open minds and hearts.
——————————
Here are symbols to remind us
Of our lifelong need of grace;
Here are table, font and pulpit;
Here the cross has central place.
Here in honesty of preaching,
Here in silence, as in speech,
Here, in newness and renewal,
God the Spirit comes to each.
——————————
Here our children find a welcome
In the Shepherd’s flock and fold;
Here as bread and wine are taken,
Christ sustains us as of old.
Here the servants of the Servant
Seek in worship to explore
What it means in daily living
To believe and to adore.
——————————
Lord of all, of church and kingdom,
In an age of change and doubt,
Keep us faithful to the Gospel;
Help us work your purpose out.
Here, in this day’s dedication,
All we have to give, receive;
We, who cannot live without you,
We adore you! We believe!
——————————
INVITATION TO CONFESSION
——————————
TIME OF SILENCE
——————————
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Loving and merciful God, you know our hearts and you know our lives. We confess to you those things which cause separation, which cause pain, which cause distress, and which break down relationships. And we confess our part in those things. In humility and hope, we ask for your help: to do better, to reconcile, to heal, to soothe, to build up. We pray these things so that we may be fully able to love you and neighbor, and better follow the Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.
——————————
SUNG RESPONSE: Rain Down
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love on your people.
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love, God of life.
——————————
WORDS OF ASSURANCE
Sisters and brothers, hear this good news and see the grace of God: You are forgiven. You are free to go and live in the light of love.
Thanks be to God.
——————————
SUNG RESPONSE: Glory to God Whose Goodness Shines on Me
Glory to God, Whose goodness shines on me
And to the Son, whose grace has pardoned me
And to the Spirit, whose love has set me free
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, Amen.
——————————
World without end, without end Amen
World without end, without end Amen
World without end, without end Amen
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, Amen.
——————————
PRAYERS OF THE DAY
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.
——————————
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
——————————
SONG #144: Alleluia! Sing to Jesus
——————————
Alleluia! Sing to Jesus;
His the scepter, His the throne.
Alleluia! His the triumph,
His the victory alone.
Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion
Thunder like a mighty flood;
“Jesus out of every nation
Has redeemed us by His blood.
——————————
Alleluia! Not as orphans
Are we left in sorrow now.
Alleluia! He is near us;
Faith believes, nor questions how.
Though the cloud from sight received Him
When the forty days were o’er,
Shall our hearts forget His promise,
“I am with you evermore”?
——————————
Alleluia! bread of angels,
Thou on earth our food, our stay;
Alleluia! here the sinful
Flee to Thee from day to day:
Intercessor, friend of sinners,
Earth’s Redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless
Sweep across the crystal sea.
——————————
Alleluia! King eternal,
Thee the Lord of lords we own;
Alleluia! born of Mary,
Earth Thy footstool, Heav’n Thy throne:
Thou within the veil hast entered,
Robed in flesh our great high priest;
Thou on earth both priest and victim
In the Eucharistic feast.
——————————
CHALLENGE AND BLESSING
And all God’s people said: Alleluia! Amen.

SONG #2274: Come All You People
———————————
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come now and worship the Lord.
——————————
WELCOME
——————————
SONG #376: Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
——————————
Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heaven to earth come down,
Fix in us thy humble dwelling,
All thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, thou art all compassion,
Pure, unbounded love thou art;
Visit us with thy salvation,
Enter every trembling heart.
——————————
Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit
Into every troubled breast,
Let us all in thee inherit,
Let us find the promised rest.
Take away the love of sinning,
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith, as its beginning,
Sets our hearts at liberty.
——————————
Come almighty to deliver,
Let us all thy life receive;
Suddenly return and never,
Nevermore thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve thee as thy hosts above,
Pray, and praise thee without ceasing,
Glory in thy perfect love.
——————————
Finish then thy new creation,
Pure and spotless let us be;
Let us see thy great salvation,
Perfectly restored in thee;
Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heaven we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before thee,
Lost in wonder, love and Praise.
——————————
THE GATHERING
This experience of faith is not something static.
We are on a journey.
It is a journey we take together, and a journey that each of us makes alone.
Everyday, we are invited to pay attention, to notice things on the way.
To notice the sharp stones, the uneven ground, the mercy of shade, the faithfulness of those who walk with us.
We carry little with us on the journey;
We only carry that which is in our hearts: hope, trust, fear, apprehension, wonder, sorrow.
On this journey, we rest and sing and pray and listen.
And so, let us journey together. And let us worship together!

*SONG #2051: I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry
———————————
I was there to hear your borning cry,
I’ll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized,
To see your Life unfold.
———————————
I was there when you were but a child,
With a faith to suit you well.
In a blaze of light you wandered off
to find where demons dwell.
———————————
When you heard the wonder of the Word,
I was there to cheer you on.
You were raised to praise the Living God
To whom you now belong.
———————————
If you find someone to share your time,
And you join your hearts as one,
I’ll be there to make your verses rhyme,
From dusk till rising sun.
———————————
In the middle ages of your life,
Not too old, no longer young,
I’ll be there to guide you through the night,
Complete what I’ve begun.
———————————
When the evening gently closes in,
And you shut your weary eyes,
I’ll be there as I have always been,
With just one more surprise.
———————————
I was there to hear your borning cry,
I’ll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized,
To see your Life unfold.

INVITATION TO ACTIVE DISCIPLESHIP
——————————
SONG #280: Amazing Grace
——————————
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
——————————
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
——————————
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come:
‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
——————————
The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
——————————
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
——————————
INVITATION TO CONFESSION
——————————
TIME OF SILENCE
——————————
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Though we are children of God,
We have failed and we have forgotten.
And God loves you.
We have done injury and been injured.
And God loves you.
We have been greedy and we have gloated.
And God loves you.
We have hoarded and we have hated.
And God loves you.
We have walked away, turned away, and given ourselves away.
And God loves you.
——————————
SUNG RESPONSE: Rain Down
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love on your people.
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love, God of life.
——————————
WORDS OF ASSURANCE
The Holy Spirit rains down upon our dry and dusty lives, washing away our sin and healing our wounded spirits. Praise be to God! In Christ, we are made whole!

PRAYERS OF THE DAY
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.
Amen.
——————————
SONG #429: Lord, You Give the Great Commission
——————————
Lord, you give the great commission:
“Heal the sick and preach the word.”
Lest the church neglect its mission
And the gospel go unheard,
Help us witness to your purpose
With renewed integrity:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.
——————————
Lord, you call us to your service:
“In my name baptize and teach.”
That the world may trust your promise,
Life abundant meant for each,
Give us all new fervor, draw us
Closer in community:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.
——————————
Lord, you make the common holy:
“This my body, this my blood.”
Let us all, for earth’s true glory,
Daily lift life heavenward,
Asking that the world around us
Share your children’s liberty:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.
——————————
Lord, you show us love’s true measure:
“Father, what they do, forgive.”
Yet we hoard as private treasure
All that you so freely give.
May your care and mercy lead us
To a just society:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.
——————————
Lord, you bless with words assuring:
“I am with you to the end.”
Faith and hope and love restoring,
May we serve as you intend,
And, amid the cares that claim us,
Hold in mind eternity:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.
——————————
CHALLENGE AND BLESSING
And all God’s people said: Alleluia! Amen.

SONG #2218 – You Are Mine (#00193)
I will come to you in the silence
I will lift you from all your fear
You will hear My voice
I claim you as My choice
Be still, and know I am near
———————————
I am hope for all who are hopeless
I am eyes for all who long to see
In the shadows of the night,
I will be your light
Come and rest in Me
———————————
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine
———————————
I am strength for all the despairing
Healing for the ones who dwell in shame
All the blind will see, the lame will all run free
And all will know My name
———————————
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine
———————————
I am the Word that leads all to freedom
I am the peace the world cannot give
I will call your name, embracing all your pain
Stand up, now, walk, and live
———————————
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine

——————————
SONG #260: A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great,
and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
——————————
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth His Name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.
——————————
And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us;
The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.
——————————
That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth;
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

SONG #171 – The King of Love My Shepherd Is
The King of love my shepherd is,
whose goodness faileth never.
I nothing lack if I am his,
and he is mine forever.
——————————
Where streams of living water flow,
my ransomed soul he leadeth;
and where the verdant pastures grow,
with food celestial feedeth.
——————————
Perverse and foolish, oft I strayed,
but yet in love he sought me;
and on his shoulder gently laid,
and home, rejoicing, brought me.
——————————
In death’s dark vale I fear no ill,
with thee, dear Lord, beside me;
thy rod and staff my comfort still,
thy cross before to guide me.
——————————
Thou spreadst a table in my sight;
thy unction grace bestoweth;
and oh, what transport of delight
from thy pure chalice floweth!
——————————
And so through all the length of days,
thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise
within thy house forever.

WELCOME
Welcome to Westminster Online!
——————————
SONG #2236: Gather Us In
———————————
Here in this place new light is streaming,
Now is the darkness vanished away,
See in this space our fears and our dreamings,
Brought here to you in the light of this day.
———————————
Gather us in, the lost and forsaken,
Gather us in, the blind and the lame;
Call to us now and we shall awaken,
We shall arise at the sound of our name.
———————————
We are the young, our lives are a mystery,
We are the old who yearn for your face,
We have been sung throughout all of history,
Called to be light to the whole human race.
———————————
Gather us in, the rich and the haughty,
Gather us in, the proud and the strong;
Give us a heart so meek and so lowly,
Give us the courage to enter the song.
———————————
Here we will take the wine and the water,
Here we will take the bread of new birth,
Here you shall call your sons and your daughters,
Call us anew to be salt for the earth.
———————————
Give us to drink the wine of compassion,
Give us to eat the bread that is you;
Nourish us well and teach us to fashion
Lives that are holy and hearts that are true.
———————————
Not in the dark of buildings confining,
Not in some heaven light years away,
But here in this place the new light is shining,
Now is the kingdom, now is the day.
———————————
Gather us in and hold us forever,
Gather us in and make us your own;
Gather us in, all peoples together,
Fire of love in our flesh and our bones

SONG #276: Great Is Thy Faithfulness
——————————
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
——————————
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
——————————
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
——————————
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
——————————
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;

Thanks be to God.

INVITATION TO ACTIVE DISCIPLESHIP

SONG #2212: My Life Flows On
My life flows on in endless song;
above earth’s lamentation,
I hear the clear, though far off hymn
that hails a new creation.
——————————
No storm can shake my inmost calm
while to that Rock I’m clinging.
Since love is Lord of heaven and earth,
how can I keep from singing?
——————————
Through all the tumult and the strife,
I hear that music ringing.
It finds an echo in my soul.
How can I keep from singing?
——————————
No storm can shake my inmost calm
while to that Rock I’m clinging.
Since love is Lord of heaven and earth,
how can I keep from singing?
——————————
What though my joys and comforts die?
I know my Savior liveth.
What though the darkness gather round?
Songs in the night he giveth.
——————————
No storm can shake my inmost calm
while to that Rock I’m clinging.
Since love is Lord of heaven and earth,
how can I keep from singing?
——————————
The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
a fountain ever springing!
All things are mine since I am his!
How can I keep from singing?
——————————
No storm can shake my inmost calm
while to that Rock I’m clinging.
Since love is Lord of heaven and earth,
how can I keep from singing?
——————————
INVITATION TO CONFESSION
——————————
TIME OF SILENCE (full 30 seconds)
Thanks be to God.
——————————
SUNG RESPONSE: Glory to God Whose Goodness Shines on Me
Glory to God, Whose goodness shines on me
And to the Son, whose grace has pardoned me
And to the Spirit, whose love has set me free
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, Amen.
——————————
World without end, without end Amen
World without end, without end Amen
World without end, without end Amen
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, Amen.
——————————
PRAYERS OF THE DAY
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.
Amen.

These are the gifts of God for the people of God.

SONG #432: Song of Hope
May the God of hope go with us every day,
filling all our lives with love and joy and peace.
May the God of justice speed us on our way,

Praying, let us work for peace,
singing, share our joy with all.
working for a world that’s new,
faithful when we hear Christ’s call.
——————————
CHALLENGE AND BLESSING
And all God’s people said: Alleluia! Amen.

SONG #2274: Come All You People
———————————
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come now and worship the Lord.
——————————
WELCOME
——————————
SONG #315: Every Time I Feel the Spirit
——————————
Every time I feel the Spirit
Moving in my heart I will pray.
Yes, every time I feel the Spirit
Moving in my heart I will pray.
——————————
Upon the mountain, when my Lord spoke,
Out of God’s mouth came fire and smoke.
Looked all around me, it looked so fine,
Till I asked my Lord if all was mine.
——————————
Every time I feel the Spirit
Moving in my heart I will pray.
Yes, every time I feel the Spirit
Moving in my heart I will pray.
——————————
Jordan River, chilly and cold,
It chills the body but not the soul.
There is but one train upon this track;
It runs to heaven and then right back.
——————————
Every time I feel the Spirit
Moving in my heart I will pray.
Yes, every time I feel the Spirit
Moving in my heart I will pray.
——————————
SONG #319: Spirit
———————————
Spirit, spirit of gentleness,
Blow through the wilderness,
Calling and free,
Spirit, spirit of restlessness,
Stir me from placidness,
Wind, wind on the sea.
———————————
You moved on the waters, you called to the deep,
Then you coaxed up the mountains from the valleys of sleep;
And over the eons you called to each thing;
“Awake from your slumbers and rise on your wings.”
———————————
Spirit, spirit of gentleness,
Blow through the wilderness,
Calling and free,
Spirit, spirit of restlessness,
Stir me from placidness,
Wind, wind on the sea.
———————————
You swept through the desert, you stung with the sand
And you gifted your people with a law and a land;
And when they were blinded with idols and lies,
Then you spoke through your prophets to open their eyes.
———————————
Spirit, spirit of gentleness,
Blow through the wilderness,
Calling and free,
Spirit, spirit of restlessness,
Stir me from placidness,
Wind, wind on the sea.
———————————
You sang in a stable, you cried from a hill,
Then you whispered in silence when the whole world was still;
And down in the city you called once again,
When you blew through your people on the rush of the wind.
———————————
Spirit, spirit of gentleness,
Blow through the wilderness,
Calling and free,
Spirit, spirit of restlessness,
Stir me from placidness,
Wind, wind on the sea.
———————————
You call from tomorrow, you break ancient schemes.
From the bondage of sorrow all the captives dream dreams;
Our women see visions, our men clear their eyes.
With bold new decisions your people arise.
———————————
Spirit, spirit of gentleness,
Blow through the wilderness,
Calling and free,
Spirit, spirit of restlessness,
Stir me from placidness,
Wind, wind on the sea.

RESPONSE
For the Word of God in scripture,
For the Word of God among us,
For the Word of God within us,
Thanks be to God.
——————————
INVITATION TO ACTIVE DISCIPLESHIP
——————————
SONG #129: Come, O Spirit
——————————
Come, O Spirit, dwell among us,
Come with Pentecostal power;
Give the church a stronger vision,
Help us face each crucial hour.
Built upon a firm foundation,
Jesus Christ, the Cornerstone,
Still the church is called to mission
That God’s love shall be made known.
——————————
We would raise our alleluias
For the grace of yesteryears;
For tomorrow’s unknown pathway,
Hear, O God, our humble prayers.
In the church’s pilgrim journey
You have led us all the way,
Still in presence move before us,
Fire by night and cloud by day.
——————————
Come, O Spirit, dwell among us,
Give us words of fire and flame.
Help our feeble lips to praise you.
Glorify your holy name.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Three in One: what mystery!
We would sing our loud hosannas
Now and through eternity.
——————————
INVITATION TO CONFESSION
——————————
TIME OF SILENCE (full 30 seconds)

PRAYERS OF THE DAY
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.

Amen.
——————————
SONG #316: Breathe on Me, Breath of God
——————————
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do.
——————————
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until with Thee I will one will,
To do and to endure.
——————————
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.
——————————
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity.
——————————
CHALLENGE AND BLESSING
And all God’s people said: Alleluia! Amen.

SONG #2274: Come All You People
———————————
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
——————————
THE GATHERING – Psalm 95:1–2
When the tomb looms large before our eyes, remind us, Lord, who we are:
We are children of the resurrection; the place of death will not hold us.
We are the painters of the rainbows; the shadow of death will not daunt us.
We are the breakers of loaves and fishes; the taste of death will not defile us.
We are the raisers of the dead; the power of death will not defy us.
We are the people of Pentecost; the spirit of death will not destroy us!
God is our refuge and our strength.
We gather in the power and sure promise of resurrection.
——————————
SONG #138: Holy, Holy, Holy
——————————
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
——————————
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea.
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
Who wert and art and evermore shalt be.
——————————
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
Though the eye of sinfulness Thy glory may not see,
Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.
——————————
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

THE MESSAGE
——————————
RESPONSE
For the Word of God in scripture,
For the Word of God among us,
For the Word of God within us,
Thanks be to God.
——————————
INVITATION TO ACTIVE DISCIPLESHIP
How am I moving my body today?
How am I getting outside today?
How am I either giving or receiving beauty today?
Who am I checking on today?
What am I grateful for today?
——————————
SONG #461: God is Here
——————————
God is here! As we your people
Meet to offer praise and prayer,
May we find in fuller measure
What it is in Christ we share.
Here, as in the world around us,
All our varied skills and arts
Wait the coming of the Spirit
Into open minds and hearts.
——————————
Here are symbols to remind us
Of our lifelong need of grace;
Here are table, font and pulpit;
Here the cross has central place.
Here in honesty of preaching,
Here in silence, as in speech,
Here, in newness and renewal,
God the Spirit comes to each.
——————————
Here our children find a welcome
In the Shepherd’s flock and fold;
Here as bread and wine are taken,
Christ sustains us as of old.
Here the servants of the Servant
Seek in worship to explore
What it means in daily living
To believe and to adore.
——————————
Lord of all, of church and kingdom,
In an age of change and doubt,
Keep us faithful to the Gospel;
Help us work your purpose out.
Here, in this day’s dedication,
All we have to give, receive;
We, who cannot live without you,
We adore you! We believe!
——————————
INVITATION TO CONFESSION
——————————
TIME OF SILENCE (full 30 seconds)
——————————
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Forgive us, God, for our disbelief: for seeing an empty tomb and thinking that it’s a cruel trick; for discovering a discarded burial cloth yet still holding to death; for hearing words of life but keeping them to ourselves. Restore us even in our unbelief, for we pray in the name of Jesus, the Risen One. Amen.
——————————
SUNG RESPONSE: Rain Down
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love on your people.
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love, God of life.
——————————
WORDS OF ASSURANCE – Colossians 2:12
Believe the Good News: we have been baptized with Jesus’s death and we have been raised with his resurrection. Death is no more. Sin has no power. The victory has been won.
Hallelujah! Praise be to God!

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.

——————————
SONG #144: Alleluia! Sing to Jesus
——————————
Alleluia! Sing to Jesus;
His the scepter, His the throne.
Alleluia! His the triumph,
His the victory alone.
Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion
Thunder like a mighty flood;
“Jesus out of every nation
Has redeemed us by His blood.
——————————
Alleluia! Not as orphans
Are we left in sorrow now.
Alleluia! He is near us;
Faith believes, nor questions how.
Though the cloud from sight received Him
When the forty days were o’er,
Shall our hearts forget His promise,
“I am with you evermore”?
——————————
Alleluia! bread of angels,
Thou on earth our food, our stay;
Alleluia! here the sinful
Flee to Thee from day to day:
Intercessor, friend of sinners,
Earth’s Redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless
Sweep across the crystal sea.
——————————
Alleluia! King eternal,
Thee the Lord of lords we own;
Alleluia! born of Mary,
Earth Thy footstool, Heav’n Thy throne:
Thou within the veil hast entered,
Robed in flesh our great high priest;
Thou on earth both priest and victim
In the Eucharistic feast.
——————————
CHALLENGE AND BLESSING
And all God’s people said: Alleluia! Amen.

SONG #2274: Come All You People
———————————
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come now and worship the Lord.
——————————
WELCOME
——————————
SONG #376: Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
——————————
Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heaven to earth come down,
Fix in us thy humble dwelling,
All thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, thou art all compassion,
Pure, unbounded love thou art;
Visit us with thy salvation,
Enter every trembling heart.
——————————
Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit
Into every troubled breast,
Let us all in thee inherit,
Let us find the promised rest.
Take away the love of sinning,
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith, as its beginning,
Sets our hearts at liberty.
——————————
Come almighty to deliver,
Let us all thy life receive;
Suddenly return and never,
Nevermore thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve thee as thy hosts above,
Pray, and praise thee without ceasing,
Glory in thy perfect love.
——————————
Finish then thy new creation,
Pure and spotless let us be;
Let us see thy great salvation,
Perfectly restored in thee;
Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heaven we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before thee,
Lost in wonder, love and Praise.
——————————
THE GATHERING
Have you been looking for Jesus in stone-cold, borrowed tombs? Forget it. Give up that futile pursuit. You will not find him there.
Indeed, he is not there! The women told us the Good News! He is risen from the dead! He is with the disciples in Galilee.
He is also among the victims and the survivors of earthquakes, just as a quake rocked the earth when he departed the dark grave.
He is wherever there are tears of pain or grief to wipe dry. And he is with those who rejoice, to honor their celebrations.
He is here, with us! In each hymn and in each prayer. In each proclamation and in the people’s “Alleluia!”
The promised redemption has come and our hearts rejoice!
Let us praise the Risen One! Let us rejoice and celebrate new life!
——————————
*SONG #2051: I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry
———————————
I was there to hear your borning cry,
I’ll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized,
To see your Life unfold.
———————————
I was there when you were but a child,
With a faith to suit you well.
In a blaze of light you wandered off
to find where demons dwell.
———————————
When you heard the wonder of the Word,
I was there to cheer you on.
You were raised to praise the Living God
To whom you now belong.
———————————
If you find someone to share your time,
And you join your hearts as one,
I’ll be there to make your verses rhyme,
From dusk till rising sun.
———————————
In the middle ages of your life,
Not too old, no longer young,
I’ll be there to guide you through the night,
Complete what I’ve begun.
———————————
When the evening gently closes in,
And you shut your weary eyes,
I’ll be there as I have always been,
With just one more surprise.
———————————
I was there to hear your borning cry,
I’ll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized,
To see your Life unfold.

THE MESSAGE

RESPONSE
For the Word of God in scripture,
For the Word of God among us,
For the Word of God within us,
Thanks be to God.
——————————
INVITATION TO ACTIVE DISCIPLESHIP
——————————
SONG #280: Amazing Grace
——————————
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
——————————
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
——————————
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come:
‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
——————————
The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
——————————
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
——————————
INVITATION TO CONFESSION
——————————
TIME OF SILENCE (full 30 seconds)
——————————
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Forgive us, O God, for the bondage to sin that we so often find to be comforting. Forgive us for not choosing life, for refusing to live it to the fullest. Forgive the doubt that, all too often, makes us reject the miraculous: that in Jesus Christ, You showed your love by facing death and then shattering its bonds. Forgive us, and make us your Easter people. We ask this in the name of the Living Christ.
——————————
SUNG RESPONSE: Rain Down
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love on your people.
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love, God of life.
——————————
WORDS OF ASSURANCE
People of God, shout “Hallelujah!” You are an Easter people. God hears the confession of our hearts and the prayers of our lips. The old is gone. It has been buried. The new has come. It has risen. Accept, with gratitude, the mercy that Jesus offers us all. In his name, you are forgiven.
Hallelujah! Praise be to God!
——————————
SUNG RESPONSE: Glory to God Whose Goodness Shines on Me
Glory to God, Whose goodness shines on me
And to the Son, whose grace has pardoned me
And to the Spirit, whose love has set me free
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, Amen.
——————————
World without end, without end Amen
World without end, without end Amen
World without end, without end Amen
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, Amen.
——————————
PRAYERS OF THE DAY
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.
Amen.
——————————
SONG #429: Lord, You Give the Great Commission
——————————
Lord, you give the great commission:
“Heal the sick and preach the word.”
Lest the church neglect its mission
And the gospel go unheard,
Help us witness to your purpose
With renewed integrity:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.
——————————
Lord, you call us to your service:
“In my name baptize and teach.”
That the world may trust your promise,
Life abundant meant for each,
Give us all new fervor, draw us
Closer in community:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.
——————————
Lord, you make the common holy:
“This my body, this my blood.”
Let us all, for earth’s true glory,
Daily lift life heavenward,
Asking that the world around us
Share your children’s liberty:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.
——————————
Lord, you show us love’s true measure:
“Father, what they do, forgive.”
Yet we hoard as private treasure
All that you so freely give.
May your care and mercy lead us
To a just society:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.
——————————
Lord, you bless with words assuring:
“I am with you to the end.”
Faith and hope and love restoring,
May we serve as you intend,
And, amid the cares that claim us,
Hold in mind eternity:
With the Spirit’s gifts empower
Us for the work of ministry.

SONG #2274: Come All You People
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come now and worship the Lord.

WELCOME

SONG #2218 – You Are Mine (#00193)
I will come to you in the silence
I will lift you from all your fear
You will hear My voice
I claim you as My choice
Be still, and know I am near
———————————
I am hope for all who are hopeless
I am eyes for all who long to see
In the shadows of the night,
I will be your light
Come and rest in Me
———————————
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine
———————————
I am strength for all the despairing
Healing for the ones who dwell in shame
All the blind will see, the lame will all run free
And all will know My name
———————————
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine
———————————
I am the Word that leads all to freedom
I am the peace the world cannot give
I will call your name, embracing all your pain
Stand up, now, walk, and live
———————————
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine

THE GATHERING
When the tomb looms large before our eyes, remind us, Lord, who we are:
We are children of the resurrection; the place of death will not hold us.
We are the painters of the rainbows; the shadow of death will not daunt us.
We are the breakers of loaves and fishes; the taste of death will not defile us.
We are the raisers of the dead; the power of death will not defy us.
We are the people of Pentecost; the spirit of death will not destroy us!
God is our refuge and our strength.
We gather in the power and sure promise of resurrection.

SONG #260: A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great,
and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
——————————
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth His Name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.
——————————
And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us;
The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.
——————————
That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth;
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

SONG #171 – The King of Love My Shepherd Is
The King of love my shepherd is,
whose goodness faileth never.
I nothing lack if I am his,
and he is mine forever.
——————————
Where streams of living water flow,
my ransomed soul he leadeth;
and where the verdant pastures grow,
with food celestial feedeth.
——————————
Perverse and foolish, oft I strayed,
but yet in love he sought me;
and on his shoulder gently laid,
and home, rejoicing, brought me.
——————————
In death’s dark vale I fear no ill,
with thee, dear Lord, beside me;
thy rod and staff my comfort still,
thy cross before to guide me.
——————————
Thou spreadst a table in my sight;
thy unction grace bestoweth;
and oh, what transport of delight
from thy pure chalice floweth!
——————————
And so through all the length of days,
thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise
within thy house forever.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Forgive us, God, for our disbelief: for seeing an empty tomb and thinking that it’s a cruel trick; for discovering a discarded burial cloth yet still holding to death; for hearing words of life but keeping them to ourselves. SONG #2274: Come All You People
———————————
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come all you people,
come and praise your Maker;
Come now and worship the Lord.

WELCOME

SONG #2236: Gather Us In
———————————
Here in this place new light is streaming,
Now is the darkness vanished away,
See in this space our fears and our dreamings,
Brought here to you in the light of this day.
———————————
Gather us in, the lost and forsaken,
Gather us in, the blind and the lame;
Call to us now and we shall awaken,
We shall arise at the sound of our name.
———————————
We are the young, our lives are a mystery,
We are the old who yearn for your face,
We have been sung throughout all of history,
Called to be light to the whole human race.
———————————
Gather us in, the rich and the haughty,
Gather us in, the proud and the strong;
Give us a heart so meek and so lowly,
Give us the courage to enter the song.
———————————
Here we will take the wine and the water,
Here we will take the bread of new birth,
Here you shall call your sons and your daughters,
Call us anew to be salt for the earth.
———————————
Give us to drink the wine of compassion,
Give us to eat the bread that is you;
Nourish us well and teach us to fashion
Lives that are holy and hearts that are true.
———————————
Not in the dark of buildings confining,
Not in some heaven light years away,
But here in this place the new light is shining,
Now is the kingdom, now is the day.
———————————
Gather us in and hold us forever,
Gather us in and make us your own;
Gather us in, all peoples together,
Fire of love in our flesh and our bones

Let’s sing together.

SONG #276: Great Is Thy Faithfulness
——————————
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
——————————
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
——————————
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
——————————
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
——————————
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
——————————
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

SONG #2212: My Life Flows On
My life flows on in endless song;
above earth’s lamentation,
I hear the clear, though far off hymn
that hails a new creation.

INVITATION TO CONFESSION

TIME OF SILENCE

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Forgive us, O God, for the bondage to sin that we so often find to be comforting. Forgive us for not choosing life, for refusing to live it to the fullest. Forgive the doubt that, all too often, makes us reject the miraculous: that in Jesus Christ, You showed your love by facing death and then shattering its bonds. Forgive us, and make us your Easter people. We ask this in the name of the Living Christ.

SUNG RESPONSE: Rain Down
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love on your people.
Rain Down, rain down,
rain down your love, God of life.

PRAYERS OF THE DAY
The prayer list is available in the WPC smartphone app. The link is also available in your eNews and in the comments below the livestream.

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.

We pray all these things in the name of Jesus, who taught us that we can pray to You boldly and confidently, praying the prayer that he taught us:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

SONG #432: Song of Hope
May the God of hope go with us every day,
filling all our lives with love and joy and peace.
May the God of justice speed us on our way,
bringing light and hope to every land and race.
Praying, let us work for peace,
singing, share our joy with all.
working for a world that’s new,
faithful when we hear Christ’s call.

CHALLENGE AND BLESSING
And all God’s people said: Alleluia! Amen.

SONG #467: How Great Thou Art
O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
——————————
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
——————————
When though the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze;
——————————
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
——————————
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin
——————————
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
——————————
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art
——————————
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
